What area of your life would you like to focus on in the next three months? Maybe it’s a personal area like improving your health or cultivating gratitude. Or a professional area such as productivity or professional development. Or maybe it’s a social area like developing friendships or volunteering within your community.
Hello friends,
Happy July 4th to those of you in the U.S. who celebrate and/or have the day off. Many of my friends are at the beach today and will be coming over for dinner in an hour or two. I’ve mentioned it a bunch, but I think one of the biggest positive areas of growth and change in my life has been cultivating and feeling really secure in my friend group, social circle, and support system.
Take 5-15 minutes and write about

Maybe it’s a personal area like improving your health or cultivating gratitude. Or a professional area such as productivity or professional development. Or maybe it’s a social area like developing friendships or volunteering within your community.
It is challenging to pick just one area to focus on. Of course they are all related and feed into each other.
There is a project I have been working on. In fact, I started focusing on it last month, part of the reason why I neglected to share my own responses (though I am proud of myself for setting up the prompts to send every day). I’m not really ready to share a lot about that project. It turns out that for people with ADHD in particular (maybe it is a more general issue too, but I’m not sure about that) get enough dopamine from telling people about their plans that sometimes that satisfaction can actually get in the way of achieving the goal itself.
My next tasks for that project are setting myself a bunch of deadlines for the next three months and maybe through to the end of the year. I’m hoping that setting myself those deadlines and meeting regularly with friends to discuss our progress on our individual projects will help me speed up the pace at which I’m moving.
I’m also trying a new daily planner style based on what worked well for me in high school and college.
So I guess all of these fall into “professional.”
I can’t wait to see where these next three months take us. What did you decide you want to focus on?
Your friend,
Laura
